VIBRATION MONITORING

Main information

Our company offers vibration monitoring and analysis services. Vibration monitoring is the process of detecting and recording ground vibrations caused by different activities. It is usually required when there is a possibility that a building, machine or people will suffer from vibration due to external events, such as construction/demolition of a nearby building, sheet piling, pile driving or heavy vehicles passing over speed bumps. With our vast experience with dynamics and vibrations we are able to determine the possible effect of these vibrations and confirm that the vibration levels are safe.

Vibration monitoring protects owners from vibration induced damage of their property and contractors from false claims. Additionally, knowing the current level of vibration with regard to acceptable limits makes it easier for builders to perform a difficult job requiring a large amount of caution and sensitivity.

Estimation of vibration-induced damages

Based on the overall dimensions of the building, number of storeys, type of construction, state of preservation and excitation frequency, the maximum permissible acceleration values for various damage thresholds are defined. The measurements are made using the biaxial accelerometers at many points on the measured object. In order to determine the extreme vibration amplitudes, the registered signals are analyzed in 1/3 octave bands. For each band, peak acceleration value is identified and compared with the thresholds. Before and after the vibration measurement, the photographic documentation of the building is made in order to document any damage caused by vibration.
