Mechanical draft cooling towers

The aim of our work was to find the causes of excessive fans vibration.  We conducted survey and visual inspection of mechanical draft cooling towers, vibration measurement of fans and reinforced concrete structure. Structural, strength, modal and dynamic analyses were performed. The calculation model was created in SOFiSTiK software. The dynamic analysis was undertaken to define amplitudes of forced vibrations and to determine, whether as a result of exciting force (impeller activity), the structure suffers a resonant excitation. In the end, we proposed solutions of repair method.
